Can I link to another page in the same document?+
Yes. Set a link's type to "Page in this PDF" and enter the page number. That's how you make a clickable table of contents or a cross-reference.
What does the automatic detection find?+
Web addresses starting with http, https or www, and email addresses, wherever they appear in the document's text. Each one becomes a link covering exactly that piece of text. It can't find addresses in a scanned image, since there is no text to read.
Do I have to type https:// every time?+
No. A bare address like example.com/pricing is turned into a proper https link automatically. Email and phone links get their mailto: and tel: prefixes the same way.
Will this change how the document looks?+
No. A link annotation is invisible — it adds a clickable region without drawing anything. If you want the link to be visible, underline or colour the text before adding the link.
Do the links survive if the PDF is edited later?+
They are stored as standard PDF annotations, so any standards-compliant editor keeps them. Tools that rasterise or flatten a page will lose them, as they would with any annotation.
